Canyons School District 2011-12 Calendar

I’ve created a public (shared) Google Calendar that has all the calendar dates from the Canyons School District (Utah) 2011-12 Calendar. It includes both elementary and secondary (Middle and High School) calendars for the traditional school schedule — not the year-round or trimester schedule.

First, the official version:

Next, my rendition of the calendar on Google Calendar:

  • iCal link for the same shared calendar. Use this to import the calendar to another calendaring system — but it won’t be synced with changes, I don’t think!
  • XML link for the same shared calendar. Dunno what for; Google provides it, too.

I’ll try to keep the calendar updated as calendar changes are announced by the district. Feel free to contact me if you find any problems.

Finally, tips for syncing to your Android phone. (If you’re on iPhone, well, you’re on your own.)

  • Your Google Calendar account lets you have a primary calendar and myriad additional calendars. This is one of those additional calendars. So, you’re not adding a new calendar account to your Android phone. Instead, you want to be sure that this additional calendar is syncing on the Android.
  • This additional calendar will probably sync automatically on the Android. To see if it’s syncing, check the date 22 August 2011 on your calendar. You should see an all-day event listed as “Canyons – First Day School.” If not, then you’ll have to set up sync manually.
  • On my device (Motorola Droid 2), I open the calendar app, tap Menu | More | Calendars, then make sure the Canyons calendar is set to be Visible and to Sync. Your device’s default calendar app may differ, but that’s basic idea.

This is not an official calendar from Canyons District. This is my manual entry of their PDF calendar dates. Obviously, you’re responsible for knowing the schedule. Always refer to the official calendar from the district in case of any question.

Hopefully, the district will decide to publish such a calendar themselves in future. :-)
