I realized as I reviewed the new blog that somehow, I’ve not posted yet about my new hobby.
I’m a 35-year chrocheter. I learned how to crochet in 4th grade in North Carolina. I finally learned to knit this year on Pioneer Day (24 July)! And I’m really enjoying it!
So far, in 4 months, I’ve knitted quite a selection of projects. Most are uploaded on the Knitting/Crochet community site, Ravelry.com.
- A loose, big needle scarf was my first project. good for getting the needles in my handl Was going to do 2 of those, but got bored, so the second project was the Moebius cowl.
- A really neat Moebius cowl pattern from Cat Bordhi.
- A few other simple moebius cowls for fun.
- Spiral hat pattern called “Odessa.” I knitted it twice because I realized I’d done the SSK’s wrong. And it was a bit too big. Which was fine. But worth doing again.
- Quite a smattering of simpled rib stitch fingerless mittens. These are Christmas gifts.
- A few sets of fingerless mittens in a patter by Mary Tripplett. Neat chart pattern on the back of the hand, and has a thumb.
- 2 really fun beaded lace scarf patterns from Mary Tripplett.
- 2 simple wool collar scarfs patterns from Verla at the Unraveled Sheep.
- The Clapotis scarf, which is really cool. Justina wears it well.
- A ear flap hat in a cool bulky dark red yarn. Complete with tassels.
- Oh, and I knitted myself a scarf in a reversible cable pattern called “Palindrome.”
- And a cowl for me or Carter called “Wonky.” Quick fun knit.
I’m now working on 2 projects: a couple of lace shawls for the girls, and my first sock projects for the 2 youngest boys. The shawl is on hold now while I do socks. Almost done w/ the first pair, which were supposed to Ben’s, but will be Elijah’s. Yeah, I didn’t size them right.
