Weight Loss

I stopped drinking pop this weekend. I asked Greg today what the next step was to start losing some weight. His answer: Alkalization.

A few notes from my conversation with Greg (I’m no expert; these are just my notes):

Recent research indicates that the preservative used in soda pop causes an acidization of the bowel. The acid-loving bacteria take over and influence cravings, etc., and among myriad other problems, make weight loss a losing battle. Simple sugars do this in general, but this preservative is apparently capable of doing it all alone. Guess it’s good that I stopped drinking pop.

Greg recommended a regimen of Standard Process’ SP Cleanse and SP Complete. Take 5 tablets with each good meal, preferably 3 good meals a day. Do a couple of shakes a day whenever with the other supplement (I can’t remember which is capsule and which is powder). It’s a good idea, but not required, to also do a spleen-friendly diet along with this. That means warm, soft foods in favor of harder raw foods. For example, bananas instead of apple. Steamed carrots and broccoli instead of raw. The spleen-friendly diet wants water-filled foods. This is optional.

Greg also reminded me of an earlier conversation about cellular turnover. It was once thought that the body made its cells, then what you did after that determine the health of those cells. It’s now believe that we recreate the body’s cells every 100 days. You either get new cells that thrive or that decay. That’s every cell in the body, new every 100 days. Stress is the primary influence on whether those new cells thrive or decay. Exercise can combat that stress, though not completely overcome its influence. 30 minutes of low to moderate exercise every day is apparently sufficient for this effect. And for someone like me, it needs to be as little as possible. So, I conclude that I need 100 straight days of 30 minutes on the treadmill starting ASAP. But not today. :-) This is less a weight loss idea, though it’ll help, than it is a healthiness idea.

That’s all I can remember from my visit with Greg today. I’ve got SP Cleanse and Complete at home. I’ll start that tonight.
